Rival Esports was launched in 2016 as "Pro Rivalry League" with the goal of providing high-quality tournaments in Rocket League. They rebranded to Rival Esports on December 5th, 2017.

Since the spring of 2018 Rival Esports organized multiple Seasonal Opens in both North America and Europe. Their biggest tournament to date is "The Climb". It featured multiple North American top teams and a $7,500 prize pool.
