Dota2 Major Championships
Dota Major Championships (informally called "Majors") are a series of tournaments introduced by Valve Corporation in 2015 to improve the landscape of Dota 2 esports. It consists of fall, winter, spring tournaments, leading up to The International in the summer.
In 2017, Valve announced the "Dota Pro Circuit", significantly changing the format of the Majors to include larger events chosen by them. Third-party events require their Dota 2 prize pool to be a minimum of $500,000, and will receive an additional $500,000 added by Valve along with qualifying points awarded to teams to be seeded into The International. Smaller events called "Minors" require a minimum of $150,000, and will receive an additional $150,000 added by Valve along with a smaller number of qualifying points.
